Cezary Stolecki
Cezary Stolecki is a young and highly talented cinematographer, open to both commercial and film projects in Poland and abroad. A graduate of the Katowice Film School, he also participated in the Berlinale Talents 2014 Masterclass.
His graduation film, Magma, directed by Paweł Maślona, won awards at festivals worldwide, including Palm Springs, Cambridge, Prague, and Poland. The film received the Main Prize at the Gdynia Film Festival, and Cezary was nominated for the Golden Tadpole at Camerimage for Best Cinematography.
Another short, Shame, won the KODAK VISION PRIZE for Best Cinematography, while Home Sweet Home, directed by Agata Puszcz, was awarded at the Küstendorf International Film and Music Festival. Michel Amathieu praised it, stating: “I was impressed by the strong direction and very precise lighting, which is highly aesthetic and conveys exactly what the director wants to express.”
Cezary’s first feature film, Panic Attack (2017), directed by Paweł Maślona, was acclaimed by critics as one of the best Polish films of the decade and received numerous awards. It premiered in the main competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
He served as cinematographer for both parts of the horror feature films Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski and All My Friends Are Dead by Jan Belcl. His TV mini-series work includes three episodes of Planeta Singli. Osiem historii, exploring eight portraits of contemporary love. The Netflix horror film Hellhole, also shot by Cezary, received highly positive critical and audience reviews.
Cezary’s feature film credits include The Supersisters directed by Maciej Barczewski, a sci-fi action story about courage and superpowers, and Cisza nocna (Night Silence) directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski. The latter premiered at the 49th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and received the Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution in the “Perspectives” Competition for its daring, transcendent, and masterfully balanced cinematography.
His latest projects include 13 Days Till Summer directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski and 100 Dni Do Matury directed by Mikołaj Piszczan, the latter attracting over one million viewers in Polish cinemas.
The latest feature film LARP. Miłość, trolle i inne questy, directed by Konrad Kądziela and shot by Cezary Stolecki, was nominated for Best Cinematography in the Main Competition at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival. Cezary’s work was praised for its creative and striking visuals, skillfully highlighting both the coming-of-age story and the fantastical world of the LARP game, where characters explore their identities.
Cezary is member of the Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC).
