After graduating in Film Set Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she began her career in the film and advertising industry, initially assisting leading production designers before establishing herself as an independent art director and, later, production designer.
Over the course of her career, she has contributed to a wide range of Polish and international productions. Among her most acclaimed projects is The Zone of Interest (dir. Jonathan Glazer), on which she worked as Set Decorator. The film received the Grand Prix at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, won two Academy Awards (Best International Feature Film and Best Sound), and earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Production Design. Her work was also recognised with consideration for the Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA) Awards, reflecting the exceptional quality of the film’s visual world.
Her international credits as Production Designer include the television series Westwall (dir. Isabel Prahl) and the feature films Krux (dir. Tony Vahl) and Adams 8 (dir. Hannu Salonen). Earlier in her career, she served as Supervising Art Director and Art Department Coordinator on Agnieszka Holland’s Mr. Jones, overseeing collaboration between the Scottish and Ukrainian art departments. The film received the award for Best Production Design at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival and was nominated for the Polish Film Awards.
In Poland, Katarzyna further established herself as a production designer through acclaimed projects including the television series Król (dir. Jan P. Matuszyński), based on Szczepan Twardoch’s bestselling novel, and the feature film Iluzja (dir. Marta Minorowicz), where she served as both Production Designer and Set Decorator.
Alongside her work in film and television, Katarzyna is an experienced commercial production designer, regularly collaborating on high-profile advertising campaigns for both Polish and international clients.
