Kinga Dębska

Kinga is a graduate of directing at FAMU in Prague (2007), Camerimage Film School in Toruń (2001) and cultural studies (japanese studies) at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw (1996).

She has made several documentaries, including awarded with the "Eagle", feature documentary film "Actress" (2015) about Elżbieta Czyżewska. For her feature debut "Hel" (2010) she was awarded with the Best Screenplay Award at the Youth and Film Festival in Koszalin.

So far, her greatest success - both artistic and commercial - has brought her the film "These Daughters Of Mine" (2015). Dębska received the Audience Award, the Journalists' Award and the Award of the Studio and Local Cinema Networks at the Gdynia Film Festival. The title was also awarded with two Eagles: for the best script and an audience award. "These Daughters of Mine" have also been noticed and appreciated, among other festivals in Chicago (Polish Film Festival in America, "Golden Teeth" award,

2015), Moscow (FFP Main Award "Wisła", 2016) and at the China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival (Audience Award, 2017).

Her film "Zabawa Zabawa" was a box-office success and was appreciated in Września (National Film Festival "Prowincjonalia", Main Award "Jancio Wodnik" for the best feature film) and during Mastercard Offcamera in Cracow (Audience Award). Her latest feature film “Zupa Nic” / “Back Then” (2021) was qualified for the Main Competition at Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

In addition to feature films and documentaries, she has made over 100 episodes of the most popular TV series: "Na Dobre i Na Złe", "M jak Miłość", "Barwy Szczęścia", "Szóstka" and directed two plays for the TV theater: "Oscar for Emily" (2019), “Lato w Nohant” (2021) and "Lulu" (2022).

Lastest movie directed by Kinga "Święto ognia" is  an uplifting, humorous and moving film, which as Kinga says is the most tender and delicate of her films, something between "Amelia" and "The Intouchables." KInga received Golden Kangaroo Aaward for The Main Competition Film at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. The movie received awards in other categories: Kinga Preis as actress in a supporting role and Paulina Pytlak in professional acting debut.

Kinga Dębska is also the author of the books, "Moje Córki Krowy" and "Porozmawiaj ze mną".
