Maciek Bochniak

Born in the 80’. Film director and script writer (graduate of Script Faculty in Lodz Film School). Director of feature film "Disco Polo", that in less then six weeks reached 850.000 box office, receiving Janusz Morgenstern award for the most promising debut.

Maciek is also the author of acclaimed documentary "One Billion Happy People" (produced for HBO), based on Bayer Full disco polo band adventures in China. He made his feature debut with "I Love You So Much" (2009) and a documentary one with "The Part" (2011), as part of The Munk Studio programme – First Documentary.

He is co-author of feature film "The Room" that received many outstanding awards, also for the best independent film during 37th Gdynia Film Festival. "Polish Journal" ("Dziennik Polski") chose it to be one of Top 10 films of 2012. He is also director of TV series "Belfer". His documentary "Ethiopiques – The Revolt of Soul" was selected for IDFA.


"Magnesium" feature film directed by Maciek is a mixture of crime, western and black comedy. It was the only Polish film to be included in the Main Competition of the Warsaw Film Festival and was honored at the 45th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia with four awards, including Golden Claw in the "Different Look" category. He directed three seasons of "The Office PL"- Polish edition of the cult comedy series "The Office". They gained great reviews from critics and viewers. Recently Maciek worked on feature film "Freestyle" - story of a street rapper who gets into trouble through a failed drug deal, starring  Maciej Musiałowski. The film had its premiere on Netflix in September 2023.


Maciek is keen on writing scripts, making commercials and music videos.
