Graduate of The Strzeminski Academy of Art in Lodz. Eminent set designer, awarded in 2015 with Golden Eagle for "Warsaw '44" film (altogether with Grzegorz Piatkowski) and nominated for "Karbala" (2016). Gdynia Film Festival prized him in 2017 for "Breaking The Limits" by Lukasz Palkowski. Marek has worked with top Polish directors – Andrzej Wajda, Jan Komasa, Krzysztof Łukaszewicz, Lukasz Palkowski to name a few. Production designer of the feature film "Mosquito State" (dir. Filip Jan Rymsza), which had its premier at Venice International Film Festival 2020. Film was awarded with Golden Claw at Gdynia Film Festival 2021 in the category: Other Views.
Author of production design of the last Wojciech Smarzowski feature "Wesele" and the popular TV series "The Mire" by Jan Holoubek. He has been nominated for the Polish Film Award for his production design for "Magnesia" and "Wesele".
One of his latest projects is Netflix hit tv series "High Water" directed by Jan Holoubek - inspired by the true events of the fateful time in 1997 when a part of Poland and other central European countries were massively flooded. Within two weeks tv series has reached number one globally among non-English productions on Netflix and becoming international success gaining enthusiastic critic’s reviews and appreciation for Marek's set design.
Marek received award for the best art direction for movie "Doppelgänger. Sobowtór" directed by Jan Holoubek at Polish Film Festival in Gdynia 2023. The film is inspired by stories of PRL special agents who stole other people's identities, building false relationships and their intelligence careers on it. The movie was also awarded in other categories: directing, cinematography, costume design, actor in a supporting role and honourable mention for sound effects
