Paweł Jarzębski
Paweł graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Gdańsk University of Technology. His architectural background has provided him with a solid foundation, refined drawing skills, and the ability to balance an unrestrained artistic vision with precise technical execution. His passion for architecture permeates every project he undertakes.
Paweł began his career as a production designer at the Wybrzeże Theatre in Gdańsk, where he worked for five years. His journey into film began with the acclaimed TV series Time of Honor. He went on to serve as second production designer on some of Poland’s largest recent productions, including Jack Strong, Warsaw ’44, Karbala, and Spoor. Between 2017 and 2019, he completed four projects as an independent set designer—two historical feature films and two television series—demonstrating his remarkable diligence and versatility.
In 2019, together with Zbigniew Dylewski, Paweł received the Golden Eagle Award from the Polish Film Academy for his production design for The Butler (Kamerdyner, dir. Filip Bajon). He repeated this success in 2021, winning Best Production Design at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia for Jan P. Matuszyński’s Leave No Traces. The film premiered in the main competition at the Venice International Film Festival, where it was honored with the Bisato d’Oro award. In 2022, it became the big winner at the international LOOK! Competition at the Oostende Film Festival, taking both Best Film and Best Production Design. The jury praised Paweł’s work:
“The production design is rich in detail and effortlessly takes us back to the early ’80s in Poland. The apartments, the police station, the courtroom, the consistent decoration of the locations: everything we see in the film has a reason.”
His credits also include production design for the TV series Breslau directed by Leszek Dawid, distinguished by its breathtaking recreation of 1930s Wrocław (then Breslau), showcasing extraordinary attention to historical detail and atmosphere; the hit Netflix series Hold Tight (Zachowaj spokój, dirs. Michał Gazda, Bartosz Konopka); and the English-Polish feature film The Partisan (dir. James Marquand), the story of Krystyna Skarbek, the legendary British spy and inspiration for James Bond’s first love, starring Morgane Polański alongside Piotr Adamczyk, Agata Kulesza, and Piotr Głowacki. In 2024, his production design for the Netflix series The Hooligan (Kibic, dir. Łukasz Palkowski) quickly propelled the show to the platform’s list of most-watched titles.
Charismatic and relentlessly optimistic, Paweł is known on set for his boundless energy and ability to turn even the most ambitious creative vision into reality.
