Piotr Sobociński jr.
Piotr is one of the most prominent cinematographers in Poland. He is a multiple winner of main Polish film awards, including the Golden Eagle Award in the category Best Cinematography and Award of the Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC). His works were honoured in many international festivals as well.
Cinematography runs in his blood. He is the son of Piotr Sobocinski and the grandson of Witold Sobocinski, who graduated from Cinematographers Department at the Film School in Lodz. Since 2007, he has been making feature films and commercials as a director of photography. He works with top advertising agencies: Havas, Ogilvy & Mather, Publicis, DDB, Leo Burnett. Throughout his career up to date he has had the opportunity to cooperate with renowned Polish and foreign directors such as Wojciech Smarzowski, Łukasz Palkowski, Jan Komasa, Marta Meszaros and recently in Serbia with Nenad Mikovic. In 2018, yet again he received another Golden Eagle Award - for Piotr Domalewski’s feature ‘Silent Night’. In 2019 he debuted as a director of photograpy in tv theatre play "Oscar for Emily", which was directed by Kinga Dębska. He is the author of cinematography for Jan Komasa's feature “Corpus Christi”. This film has won 33 wins and 9 nominations at various international film festivals around the world, including Edipo Re Award and Label Europa Cinemas Awarda at Venice Film Festival, 10 awards at Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, 3 awards at Minsk International Film Festival, 2 awards at El Gouna Film Festival and 2 awards at CinEast 2019.
"Corpus Christi" was nominated for the Academy Award in the category International Feature Film.
Piotr is also a member of Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC).
