Bartosz M. Kowalski
Born in Gdynia, sailed to California to graduate in 2007 in the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles – USA - USC/Universal Studios in the Faculty of Film Production and Film Directing. Graduate of Fine Arts of École Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation in Paris, with a prior preparation in Polish-French college in Gdynia. He graduated with outstanding degree.
For his debut documentary „My Will” he was awarded Silver Hobby-Horse in Film Festival in Krakow and Maciej Szumowski Award given for outstanding sensitivity to social issues. „My Will” has been also awarded in Poznan and Lodz.
His second film „Unstoppables”, which tells a story about three members of American football team Seahawks Gdynia, was well received by critics (Award for young talented filmmaker at Polish Film Festival in America).
His debut feature film „Playground” was honoured with many awards, including best debutante and Don Quixote (Award of the Polish Federation of Film Society) at Gdynia Film festival, Grand Prix „Wielki Jantar” at Koszalin Debut Film Festival "Youth and Film" and Best Feature Film Director at Melbourne Monster Fest.
Director and screenwriter of both parts of the horror film „Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight” released on Netflix.
His latest feature film "Ostatnia wieczerza" | „Hellhole” premiered on Netflix and gained great critics' and viewers' reviews. It's horror movie set in Polish monastery in 1987, when a police officer investigating mysterious disappearances infiltrates a remote monastery and discovers a dark truth about its clergy.
Bartosz directed several commercials for prominent clients: Polish Post, Orange, Lotto and Danone to name a few.
